They might include a yearly service plan, a power meter, and a lot of information about hooking yourself up to your utility grid and how to get permission for that. Solar panels don’t need any maintenance but the batteries that save the power for night and cloudy days do need to be inspected regularly and replaced every 5 to 10 years.

Net metering is a great benefit of solar panels. If the power you are producing with your residential solar panels exceeds what you are using throughout the day, many utility companies will credit the surplus on your account. This credit can be used on cloudy days and at night. Net metering works great if you ever go on vacation. You can build up quite a good credit with only a refrigerator and a few small appliances plugged in while you are away.
